The Shirley Family: Party of 3

INTRODUCING................

Miss Carmen Jo Shirley

We have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of our newest family member, Miss Carmen Jo Shirley, for oh, about 10 months and 3 days. The beautiful baby girl finally arrived on Saturday night at 10:07 weighing 6lb12oz and measuring 20in long. She has plenty of dark hair and a set of her momma's lips and a lot of daddy features to boot. She is Riley and I's first niece and we couldn't be more excited to be an aunt and uncle to sweet Carmen Jo. Of course after hearing of her arrival, cousin Hallie was wanting to get to Enid to meet her new playmate. We hurried around this morning and made it to Enid by 11:00. Carmen soon had a room full of visitors to love on her. Luke and Katie's smiles were permanently fixed to their faces. What proud parents.......

I definitely took advantage of my snuggle time and relished in the fact that she wasn't squirming to get out of my arms like someone else I know these days. ;)

Speaking of that someone, she didn't know what to think about her little cousin. In fact, she started whining a little after I'd been holding her awhile. After I passed Carmen to the next anxious person, Hallie came and literally latched onto my leg and wouldn't let go. If you know my wiggle worm then you understand why this is strange. She is too busy to be cuddly most of the time.....

"Hello!!!!!!!!!!!!! Down here!!!"

My new best friend ;)

Overall I was pleased with my little tot's behavior while at the hospital...it could have had something to do with the gifts she got to open from great aunt Mary Ann. Ironically she opened a baby doll to play with....but instead of putting the baby in the carseat or giving her a bottle, Hallie chose to revert back to her younger days and hopped in the carrier herself and tried to take a few swigs of the bottle.....

"See, I'm still a baby!"

Uncle Riley showed up around noon. He had come via Mustang (a very unexpected 5 hour round trip just to put new batteries in the thermostat so that potential house buyers didn't melt to death while looking around). He's got a thing for those sweet baby girls.....

Nanny, Papa, Aunt Kylie, Great Aunt Mary Ann and great grandma Ida were all feeling the Carmen love....
Nanny's in heaven

Proud Papa

Proof that she's an angel

Great grandma's fourth great-gran

Luke's grandma, his aunt and uncle and his friend Sam were not lacking snuggle time either.....

Uncle Sam holding Miss C for the first time

More "great" love

Carmen wasn't embarrassed a bit as mom and dad showed off her rather large feet and long toes that she inherited from her daddy...

Soccer player like her momma perhaps?

The proud pops made sure to go grab a box of the traditional "It's A Girl" cigars and Nanny brought an amazingly beautiful bouquet of pink roses for the new momma.....

Carmen Jo, you have already captured everyone's heart! You sugar sweet personality shines through and we love you very much! Come stay with us whenever you want so we can spoil you...k?

Is she not just the sweetest!!?!!
