Hallie's First Swim

Baby bathing suits = supreme cuteness. What isn't cute? Hallie's momma in a bathing suit. Eeeek.

Memorial Day weekend was opening weekend for the aquatic center at Crystal Beach park.  I have been extremely excited about taking my bathing suit clad chick to swim for the first time. Hallie called Aunt Katie to see if she wanted to join us....and she was glad to! After lathering the babe in sunscreen and picking up some swim diapers on our way things went south rather quickly...something to do with suncreen in a baby's eyes. Poor girl was in pain and had the red weepy eye to prove it.....

"I'll just put this cold drink on it..."

"Feelin' better...look out pool, I'm coming!"

"Ok false alarm...it's still burning!!"

The little fishy was finally ready to take her first dip in the kiddie pool.....

It took her awhile to warm up to the freezing cold water.....

"It's a little too chilly for my liking, Aunt Katie"

"I'm having second thoughts...where is the exit?"

So we tried the best trick we know to bribe her to have fun......

SNACKTIME!

That did the trick!!!!

She wasn't sure about the big purple slide at first but after our third trip down she was giving her big grin...
Oh, the smell of a chunky baby covered in sunscreen...YUM!!

After her bravery spiked we tried out the shooting fountains and the big kid slide in the bigger pool area. She was up for anything water related at this point!

Remember when you were little and pooltime made you so hungry, thirsty and tired? Well it has the same effect on babies too......

"Hit the spot..."

But that didn't slow her down one bit because tossed her juice aside, left her towel and took off crawling at top speed back toward the pool.....
"I ain't done yet"

Side note to all new mommies: swim diapers do not substitute well for regular diapers outside of the pool. We learned this the hard way. Immediate bathtime....I suspect that she just wanted more time in the water so she devised a plan!

What a relaxing and fun place to take Hallie. I am picturing many summer days spent at the pool!!!
