Taking in the Fair

Although this year wasn't Hal's first go round at the state fair, it was her first time to be tall enough to have fun on the rides. Oh yeah, she's hot stuff folks....measuring in at a whopping 37 inches...

Look out ladybug ride!

My favorite three-year-old and I had some exciting plans a couple of months ago to visit our Enid family that we'd been missing quite badly. One of those fantastic family members (Dara) had the stellar idea to take a trip to the fair that same weekend. It took me about half a second to jump on board. We spent Friday night in Enid doing some shopping, eating and visiting. Hal took a ride in the wagon with Dara and Aunt B to the park while Lisa and I made an essential trip to Hobby Lobby. She couldn't go anywhere without her purse full of princesses that evening.....

Lisa made some soup for dinner and we all ate before heading over to Gman's house. Hallie immediately asked for her toy bag upon walking in the house. Another request was the green sparkly blanket that she used to read her books on the ground....and pick her nose.....

Saturday morning we met my friend Whitney at Champion Park to do some playing and to help her out with a photo shoot that was being done by the playground equipment company that morning. It was great to finally catch up with my long lost friend and Hal had plenty of fun in the meantime being helped down the tongue-like slide by her new friend "Winny."

We hurried back to Lisa's to load up for the fair. But we forgot to load up something important. A stroller. So we made a stop in Kingfisher to buy a cheapo stroller that would get up through the day. Man, was that thing cheap....but it did the job....

We won't talk about the traffic or the walk to get up to the fair or the line to get in.....what I will talk about is how adorable it was to see my little girl excited about all of the little animals at our first stop, the petting zoo....

I'd call it chaos in that small area with so many animals and people. But it was also hilarious. One moment in particular makes me belly laugh everytime I thing about it. This fella really thought Hal's clothes were tasty.....

Eating the front of her shirt.....I can just tell you that he didn't stop there....the back of her shirt was soaking wet when we left

Hahaha!

Cutest lil fella

We met up with Aunt B and Spencer while waiting in line after we'd made our painstaking food selections. It really is hard work when deciding on the best deep fried concoction to buy.

After we all ate our weight in fair food it was time for some fun. First stop was the big inflatable obstacle course that I'm still amazed my shorty made it through on her own....

We made our way through all of the buildings with a very tired Hal who wasn't sure if she wanted to ride, walk or be held. Good thing there were ten arms to hold her....

In between reminding me that it was naptime she did do a bit of shopping....

And then finally......

Contemplating what rides to hop on first

All sugared out

She'd never been on a ride nor did I think she even knew what a carnival was......but let me tell you, she was prepared. She knew exactly what she wanted to ride first.....THE LADYBUGS!!! We had no idea if there would even be ladybugs at the fair but sure enough she spotted them and was so pleased. Her very first big kid ride all by herself....

Dara was a sport and rode the flying bus with her....

And I couldn't resist a fling on the swings....

Aunt B naturally had to join Hal on the bumble bee ride. It just seemed fitting....

About eight rides later, a new stuffed puppy and more than enough sugar we said goodbye to the fair.....

How did the day go? Check out these faces! Hallie looks pleased.....

Can't forget these faces too....

There are no words to describe just how much I love those ladies up above. None at all. We'll just let Hal's smile do the talking.
