A Happy Hallieween

The costume decision this year was very confidently and quickly made by Hallie herself. She flipped the pages of a costume catalog and picked it out all by herself. I had to hide the box after she'd tried it on for the fifth time before October had even arrived. The big day that we pulled the box out was an exciting one for my little pink elephant.....

She dressed up for preschool the day before Halloween and was positively giddy about showing off her costume and seeing what her friends were dressed up as.....

I asked her if she wanted her usual breakfast on the way to school (an apple) but she quickly informed me that elephants ate peanuts. Duh mom! She reported the array of classmate costumes to me at the end of the day and even added that she wished she'd been a princess. I'll remind her about that next year. ;) But when I stop and think about it the girl acts like a princess EVERYDAY!

On the actual day of Halloween she got to dress up for a second time for dance class. We made somewhat of a hodge podge costume centered around her dance leotard. We dug out her first birthday tutu and polished off the outfit with her new witch hat headband and voila! Oh and the big pink boots. Can't forget those!

She posed outside for me again that morning giving me her best "witch face"....

I had a special lunchtime surprise date with a certain brand spankin' new little pumpkin. I was so excited to pop in on our friends, John and Megan, to meet their new little man while I was working in Shattuck that afternoon. He was nothing short of perfect and I loved staying for a bit to chat with his happy parents....

That evening after dance class we hurried home to make some goody bags for her little friends that evening....

She eagerly slipped back into her role as cutest pink elephant this side of the Mississippi and we were off to make a couple of quick pit stops for some elephant fuel (aka candy and treats). First stop: Paula and Jerry's house!

Lacy and Gregg opened up their home to our Sunday school class that night and she graciously fed the army of parents and kiddos that filled their backyard. Fun times with our church family that night!

After we'd all eaten and played and torn apart our costume it was time for some action on the streets....TRICK OR TREAT TIME!!!

Cutie Carmen was a sweet pink poodle which paired nicely with our sweet pink elephant....you'd have thought they might have wanted to pose for a picture together but twas not the case. The silly gooses just weren't havin' it. Here's a solo shot of the poodle.....

We hit up about five houses total before our elephant lost her hooves, trunk and was beginning to take off her bodysuit. Time to skedaddle. We finished off the evening at Matt and Heather and Nanny and Papa's house. She had special treats waiting at both of those stops.....

Hal tested out her Mardi Gras-inspired gifts from Nanny and Papa's NOLA vacation....

The candy kept her up until way past the average elephant's bedtime....and this momma may or may not have partaken in enough of said candy that night to make me look like an elephant. The next day my trusty assistant had transformed from elephant back into her everyday princess attire to "help" me with decorating the house for our annual Halloween party. She sure helped alright. She was in charge of paper goods.

It was another happy Hallieween in Woodward.
