How's that for an alliteration!?!
Our first holiday came and went in a flash but it was jam packed with new traditions and memories. I was awoken on the couch by the rooster very, very early. She must've been trying to get in all of her feedings at once so that she could sleep the day away. My other little person slept in until 9:00 while her dad finally emerged from the bedroom around 9:15. My housemates don't know how good they have it. ;) We slowly made our way towards the door that morning. We had plans to check out the goings on at the park....and even though Hal didn't find a turtle to race....she was still pretty thrilled....
It probably had a lot to do with the fact that she would get to show off her sissy that day at the park....
The picture above is deceiving. My quiet wee one was looking ticked while the sassy one who had just finished a five alarm meltdown (over having to wear the colors red and blue) looks quite chipper. Ha! The heat was pretty intense so we kept moving along and found as much shade as we could for Bella. Hal did some sliding and watched a few of the turtle races when we arrived....
The new putt putt course wasn't too crowded so we decided to try it out for the first time. Bella slept quietly in her seat while we played a rather modified version of the game.....
Here's our "modifier"....
She had a blast trying to hit daddy's ball before he could get to it. After a couple holes I let her take over both the pink and purple ball since I wasn't getting much contact time between helping her and trying to convince her that golf involved taking turns. These putt putt rules are going to take some time to sink in. ;) Hot, hungry and thirsty, we left the park and settled on some burgers and ice cream. Hit the spot! Such a hot lazy day called for a family nap. All four of us caught a little cat nap (small miracle) before going to Nanny and Papa's later in the day. Their house was mostly empty as they were prepping for their big move to the farm (more about that in another post). The girls got their baby fix by snuggling the tiny red, white, blue-clad firecracker. Carmen was so gentle holding her....
Nanny bought some kid-friendly "fireworks" for the girls which they popped in the driveway. When they ran out I could tell by the looks on their tired faces that they weren't ready for the fun to end.
Back inside where it was a lot cooler Bella was lounging with Papa Bill....
While our big baby was relaxing with Nanny....
We topped off a fun 4th at the park where we found a perfect spot to set up our chairs right by the pond looking back towards the park where the fireworks were shot off. It was beautiful with the water sparkling during the fireworks show. Bella slept through the booming sound and never flinched a bit. Makes me curious how the sound of a pin dropping wakes her at home....;) While I pushed Hallie on the swing in the dark during the fireworks show I couldn't help but take a moment to count my blessings....our blessings. I could get used to this whole celebrating holidays with two babes.....let's be honest....my favorite part is having two to dress festively!!!
