Riley sure is lucky to be married to such a good sport. Dressing these girls in orange isn't so bad when it makes him this happy....
Yep, patting myself on the back a bit right now as I reminiscence on our trip this past September.
But I evened out all of the orange with a little bit of my favorite colors....
After a summer spent relaxing and being indoors either pregnant or caring for a newborn we were so anxious to get out of town to have a little fun and a change of scenery. The Mills, Starbucks and Fannings had another fun adventure planned that took us to Dallas for the OSU season opener at Dallas Stadium. I had my doubts about traveling with a teeny baby but this sweetie was not a concern at all. She had her iPad and her bottle brush (lol) and she was all set......
The girls didn't make a peep all the way to Ardmore where we all stopped to eat some lunch at Two Frogs. Great lunch, great people. Just getting the weekend kicked off! The daddy's assumed baby duty because they were going to be having all of the fun later that evening at the big game....
This tiny munchkin slept the rest of the way to Dallas and filled up her belly once we checked into the hotel.....
These pretty girls watched music videos and danced their booties off....
Then these fine young gentlemen provided me with this goofy picture before leaving for the game....
Kristen dropped the guys off at the stadium and she may have cried while driving away wishing she could've joined them. Meanwhile back at the hotel I had a room full of girly fun happening.....
Bella and Tripp had a date in between feeding sessions. How much cuter can ya get???? I mean really....
This is going on their wedding slideshow NO DOUBT.....
The girls got dolled up in their brightest orange for dinner across the street....
The babes had us ooooing and awwwing yet again in their football/cheerleader getups.....
Doing what we moms do we attempted a group picture of the five kiddos on the way to dinner. That went well....
See.....
Really well.....
The littles snoozed their way through dinner which was very welcomed considering the bigs were enough of a handful. Hallie was tired and trying my patience. Thank goodness for sleepy babies....
Back to the part about Hallie trying my patience. At one point during the dinner she needed to hurry to the bathroom. We took off as fast as we could and it took me a few minutes to realize that she had walked barefoot through the restaurant and into the bathroom. Fabulous. :/ Despite the crazy kiddos we had an outstanding meal and drinks and sort of got to chat. :) Miss Kaleigh is such a sweet girl and a big helper!
The boys had a great experience at the game despite a loss in the last few minutes of the game...
We took the girls swimming late that night and went to bed when the guys returned. Way late for this nursing momma! Luckily my girl slept wonderful that night and only woke up once. Nursing and changing diapers in a hotel room proved to be interesting but we made it work. By the grace of God I actually felt well rested the next morning. We had big plans for that Sunday before Labor Day. Bella knew just how to relax.....
At breakfast she was mauled by her adoring sissy.....
Oh those smiles! She handed em out like candy!
All eleven of us met at the Dallas World Aquarium that morning. The girls loved checking out all of the wildlife......
My big girl was acting just fine as we made our way through the windy aquarium.....
Bella took in all of the scenery from her stroller where she either slept or just peacefully watched....
Hallie began to get tired and cranky. Next came the crying and fits out of nowhere. Very off considering we were in such a fun place. Something was a brewin'....
After the aquarium the dads were clearly ready to sit down somewhere and eat. Hallie settled for a piggy back ride where she nearly fell asleep on Riley's head. Also very odd....
We all ate at the Hard Rock Cafe downtown Dallas. Delicious and fun! But something just wasn't right with Hallie. She slept on my lap the entire meal and didn't touch a bite of her food. That, my friends, is when you know something has got to be wrong. Very wrong. She slept as Riley carried her to the car and all of the way to the hotel. Once we got up to our room we planned on taking a snooze for a bit before our next fun plans that evening. Hallie woke up and started screaming in pain and holding her head. She looked like she was about to pass out when all of a sudden she started vomiting. I was panicked of course wondering what on earth was going on with my baby. It hit her so fast. We tossed around some possible causes and finally settled on strep. It always starts the same way. Being the proactive freak that I am I began to search for urgent care clinics in the area all the while grumbling about how our evening plans were ruined. We loaded everyone up in the car (with a trash bag) and headed to several clinics (the first two we found out were closed). The third time was the charm where we discovered we had arrived just in time and they would be closing in thirty minutes. Praise God for this. Finding an urgent care clinic and an open pharmacy on a Sunday evening is not at easy fete. Bless her heart. She got sick in the car again and cried the whole way there. After a short thirty minute wait the doctor confirmed that she did in fact have strep and we would need to get her started on meds ASAP. He gave us some nausea meds to give her for the ride home. She was so wiped out.....
By the grace of our wonderful God we loaded up quickly, said our sad goodbyes to our friends and the girls slept the ENTIRE seven hour drive home that night. We made it home by 1:00 after one quick stop in OKC. She got the rest she needed just leaning on her seatbelt as a pillow.....
This sweetie could not have been a better travel companion.
Things obviously didn't turn out quite like we'd planned....or anywhere near what we'd planned....but at the end of the day we were safe at home and our little girl was on the mend and for that we were thankful....and restful. We are definitely holding out for a redo trip though ;)
