Rodeo Days 2014

If we're being honest here.....I'm going to tell you that I was excited about the rodeo this year for one reason and one reason only. I wanted to dress Hallie in this sweet gift Michelle gave her from her boutique.....

I never said it was a valid reason. ;) Bells has matching jammies but they didn't fit at the time. Bummer! But she got dolled up in pink to match sissy for her first cattle drive afternoon.....

Oh hello there Rodeo Princess....

Your majesty, what a pretty dress you have on....

We watched the beautiful longhorns traipse down Main and then enjoyed lunch with daddy at Carlitos....

Rodeo week continued to entertain us when we took in the big (and I mean big) rodeo parade on Saturday morning. We met Nanny, Papa, Grandma Ida, Katie and Carmen on Main to watch the fun. Nanny didn't exactly mean to end up in this position but once she was there she decided it worked. ;)

Carmen was cowgirled up in her green boots while Hallie went for a more interesting look despite my desperate efforts to convince her to wear her boots....

The girls collected a TON of goodies....of all kinds....

These pretty girls make a Saturday morning fun!

Riley's assistant Lisa snagged us some VIP tickets to the Saturday rodeo so we left Bella with Nanny for our first night away. I was a bit sad leaving her but I hear she snuggled and ate and snuggled and ate some more. She was all good. This cowgirl, on the other hand, started off our evening with a whole lot of sass and was trying to give mommy more gray hairs. Don't believe me? Look at this face....

Attitude and all, we were still smiling and happy to be getting out of the house for some fun...finally!

Things were a bit rocky at first. We had some tired tears but after the sun went down and things cooled off a bit she cheered up and was much more interested in the goings on around her. We enjoyed the VIP area....Riley liked the free drinks....I liked the less crowded feel....Hallie liked being able to stand on the gait and get a closer view of the action.

Lisa took us over to pet some horses while the Elks prepared to make their entrance once the rodeo started.....

Oh I forgot to mention that cowgirl Hal got some new kicks that morning. Purple is more her style these days apparently. Newsflash....PINK IS NO LONGER HER FAVORITE COLOR. Duh mom. Entering the purple phase....

Daddy loves his lil cowgirl.....

We ran into aunt Katie but missed out on seeing Carmen, Papa and Kylie. This is how Hallie felt about missing Carmen.....

She posed with her cowboy friends from preschool right after riding the mechanical bull behind her in the picture. She had some help from the nice lady operating it but she surprised Riley and I with how willing she was to get up on something so high. She's like her momma and usually so timid with things like that.  She even wanted to ride it again when she was done.....

Thanks for the fun memories Elks Rodeo! We'll see ya next year!
