Holy Moly.
I am literally blown away by the rate that lil red is developing.
And not just a cliche kind of blown away.
I feel like I need a notepad in hand at all times to jot down these new things.
But that's why I have this silly blog I guess.
May 10th: She was crazy. From the moment I walked in the door to pick her up from daycare til the moment I lay her wiggling body into bed. We made a quick run to the grocery store to pick up some hamburgers for a birthday cookout that night. Whose birthday was it? Canine sister Emmi's 3rd birthday. And yes, I am a crazy nutty lady who cooks hamburgers for a dog on their birthday. Anywho, back to the grocery store. She requested to take her "mink" (blanket) in with us and I obliged....mainly because I think it's downright adorable that she wants to take it places with her. I'm sure I will be eating my words in about a month when she is in full blown "mink" attachment mode. ;) I couldn't help but snap a picture of her walking out to the car like a big girl carrying her blankie behind. My little Linus.....
The blanket hauling came to a screeching halt once we reached the car and she did not want to get in without the box of Teddy Grahams that were poking out of the grocery bag. Instead of waiting patiently like a civilized human being she flung herself on the sidewalk and literally did log rolls while I purposefully ignored her and waited for her tantrum to end. All was right with the world once she was up off the concrete, in the carseat, munching on little bear and watching her movie. It was so right, in fact, that she wasn't ready to get out of the car when we got home. It took a bit of convincing to lure her out of the car.....
"Can we rewind it to my favorite part??"
It was time to shower the birthday dog with yummy treats so I put Hallie to work with the bag of snacks. She walked back and forth from dog to dog saying their names as she passed out treats until they were all gone. She wasn't done yet though. I turned around to find her standing at my feet holding the dog bowls saying "foo! foo!" She led me to where the dog food is and scooped up handfuls out of the bag. I'm diggin' this big girl helper stuff!!
"Well if you aren't gonna feed them, then I will"
"One cup of Science Diet, comin' right up! Come and get it!"
We'd moved past the dog duties and went straight into cleaning the house mode. I use that term loosely. Cleaning simply means picking up the ten pairs of Hallie shoes on the counter, scraping off the mess from her highchair and picking up her random clothing items strewn about the house. Instead of helping me with this part she found something else to do. I heard some squeals coming from the bathroom. And this is what I found.....
She got in the bathtub. But couldn't get out.
The Teddy Grahams were quite the hit as far as snacks go. She's a cracker connoisseur, people! And what's better than a bowl of crackers?? The entire BOX of course!!!
She dumped it out while Riley was trying to help her pour them into her bowl. He was much too slow I guess because she grabbed it from him and got things done a bit quicker. Have I ever mentioned that she doesn't sit down? Not sure if I'd covered that yet. Well, so anyways, she doesn't. Ever. Sit. Down. Like never. Not at all. Not even to take a drink. Drinks on the go. Eats on the go. This leaves me changing diapers while she is walking, feeding her in the middle of a play session and trying to do almost everything ON THE GO. You can see how she feels about all of this....
"You!! Go fetch me a juice box!!"
She wandered around outside while Riley fired up the grill, did a few near-somersaults, ran through a sprinkler, rearranged the porch, pushed her stroller around in circles....etc, etc, etc. I felt the side door open while I was gathering laundry and came back to find that she had wandered into the house and was waiting for me in the dryer. Naturally. ;) This moment shot straight to the top of my Top 10 Favorite Mommy Moments list.....
She did end up giving me a hand with the laundry though.....
The pups split a birthday cheeseburger, Hal scarfed down one of her own while Riley and I sat there wondering how we created something with such bounding energy. She requested that we pray three times during dinner. Ask me how much I LOVE this??? Ok, I LOVE it. The night ended with lots of hugs and kisses. I have no idea how she still had any remaining energy left but there was even enough to give the picture on the wall a big ol' smooch....
She's crazy.
She's unstoppable.
She's too much for me.
But I just can't get enough......
