Dance Camp Cutie

What's cuter than teeny tiny tap shoes?????

Teeny tiny daughters in teeny tiny pink leotards with teeny tiny backpacks and teeny tiny pigtails. That's what.

My tiny dancer has been pretty pumped up about getting her feet wet in the dance studio ever since she got her new dance shoes/outfits. The morning of dance camp had finally arrived and we decided that a special mommy/daughter donut date was the perfect way to kick off an exciting week. No complaints here....

I had an insider spy feeding me full of details about tiny dancer's behavior/antics/tactics. Kristi helped the little gals with their craft project that they worked on when they weren't busy getting their groove on....

alright. I can't take it. ;)

Per usual, I wasn't sure who was more excited that morning. I think I won. My stomach was doing flips as we walked up to the studio. She had no problem leaving me in her cloud of dust excitement after I helped her put the teeny tiny ballet shoes on. Tears made their way out as I made my way out of the parking lot. Please someone, tell me how I'm supposed to let this girl move out of the house someday....get married....etc. I wanted to go back in their and snatch her up and put a binky in her mouth and rock her to sleep.....

...but I let her stay. I had a feeling that expressing herself through dance would ultimately lead to one tired girl which only meant one thing: GRUMPY GRUMP. Whoa. She was a three-headed angry and very tired monster after Day #1. After camp Nanny took Hal out for a fun lunch at "Nickdonalds" and then back to Paula's where she showed off her three-headed monster ways. I kept thinking "yep, I'm the idiot mom who put her not yet three-year-old in dance camp." Day #2 was eerily similar. The attitude is what happened at the end of the day.....as for what happened at dance camp, welllllll, I guess I'll never know because she wouldn't show us anything. Not a bit. Guess she was keeping it all a secret until Day #3......

I'd been giddy all week (and tired from the three-headed monster, of course) about parent day at dance camp. Quality entertainment at its finest! Things started off a little rocky with her clinging to my side as the first dance was about to start. She wasn't hip on standing on her "spot" while getting ready for the music to start. She chose a nice cozy spot right smack dab in the middle of two other little tiny dancers. It took a bit of bribery to get her to stay out on the floor as we all looked on. I think this pose meant that she was ready...

Well kinda. Ya know how there's always that one child who's wandering aimlessly in their own world???

Yeah. She belongs to me.

The saying "dance like nobody's watching" 100% applies to Hal. It was as if NOBODY had come to watch the girls dance. In her own crazy world. Yawning of course.....

Oh wait, is that a ballerina turn I see???

It took teeny tiny three dances to really get warmed up. Ha! When the music started for the final number she turned it ON!!! I've never been so tickled by anything. Pure pride and excitement all oozing out of me. She had dance moves oozing out of her. Moves I never even knew she had!

Her "grand finale" move was some sort of twist, swirly body shake combined with some sass and a whole lot of spunk. I guess I should mention that she added it in on her own while the other girlies did the real move. Belly laughs!!! She gave herself a round of applause and then ran for daddy who gave her a big high five!

The little girls did so good! Miss Taryn and Miss Brenda did a fantastic job! Hal even remembers her tap dance by heart.....what a treat it is to watch her do it over and over and over. I was assured that she had a blast and danced, danced, danced.

Keep it up teeny tiny dancer....this is just the beginning.
